It’s amazing how much time we will spend running away from any emotion that doesn’t FEEL good. In running, we foster a deep-rooted fear against something we shouldn’t even be afraid of. There comes a time where what we we’re afraid of isn’t even what we are afraid of any longer. We’re afraid of a concept, an outcome, we’ve created in our heads. We’ve lost absolute sense of what we avoid so strongly. We don’t even know what this emotion feels like anymore.. And yet, we are afraid. It’s classic conditioning. Any situation that we suspect will arouse a feeling we dislike encourages us to escape and avoid. It’s a sure way to rob us of the opportunity to experience something new Our emotions will NOT kill us. Our feelings will NOT kill us. They. will. not. You can feel painful feelings and GROW. You can go through a painful situation and RISE above. But you can’t grow or rise without surrendering to what is.
